Investments Bamesa boosts the Romanian automotive sector
Bamesa Group has closed an agreement with Arcelor Group to set up a Steel Service Centre in Romania. Bamesa will hold 60% of the same.
This new centre will be located in Topoloveni, at 20 km. of Pitesti, site of Dacia -pertaining to the Group Renault-, where the model Logan is produced.
The investment forecast will be 30 million euros until 2008 and a final capacity installed of 300.000 tonnes. The construction project of the first stage has already begun on property lands of 130.000 m2 and the centre will be operational in the first half of 2007. For this first stage, Bamesa has had the support of the Romanian Agency for Foreign Investment, ARIS:
“We have worked very well with ARIS and local authorities representatives in particular Mr. Botirca, Mayor of Topoloveni, since the very beginning of the project, as they proved to be a reliable partner for Bamesa investment project” stated Mr. Gabriel Gahete, the Bamesa’s General Manager for Romania.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology to provide a complete service with Press Blanking Lines (PBL), slitting, cutting to length and trapezoidal, the agreement contemplates positioning it as the reference centre for the automotive sector and appliances, and to follow the development of other sectors.
The model is identical to that which Bamesa and Arcelor have been developing for more than 8 years in Turkey, where Bamesa Çelik maintains its leadership position as service centre for the automotive industry.
Bamesa carries out the Steel Service Centre activity in Spain, Portugal, France, Turkey, with interests in Mexico and, since last year, in Romania. With a 2005 EBITDA of 75 million euros, the turnover forecast for this year will be above the 1.000 million euro.
With this new SSC, Bamesa together with Arcelor, intend to strengthen their presence in Central and Eastern Europe.
