The American company DELPHI has officially announced its decision upon Iasi for investing Euro 120 million in a Greenfield project to develop its operations in Central Eastern Europe as a consequence of its continuously growing clients’ portfolio.
With USD 26.4 billion in sales and 170,000 employees worldwide, DELPHI is one of the biggest players internationally acknowledged as far as technology and automotives are concerned. Having the support of Romanian Agency for Foreign Investment the American company DELPHI decided upon Iasi - Romania for its new Greenfield investment. The investment that is to be implemented by 2012 will create 1,000 jobs and will produce control systems for diesel engines. This Greenfield investment represents the biggest ever to be implemented in Iasi, as the area never attracted such significant projects.
Delphi considered several locations before deciding upon Iasi for its new production facility. After months of research analyses and debates together with ARIS its reliable partner Delphi representatives came up to the conclusions that Romania represents the best choice for a number of reasons carefully evaluated: a highly skilled available workforce, a prestigious University Center nearby, proximity of its most important clients in the region, good infrastructure and utilities as well as local authorities commitment to fully support the project.
Delphi is to collaborate closely with the Iasi University for developing together research programs, as well as providing the University students with access at latest technology as well as in the house trainings.
The American company holds two more units in western Romania at Sanicolaul Mare (Timis County) and Ineu (Arad County) where 9000 employees are hired. The two plants produce wiring systems for automotive industry targeting its Western Europe clients. http://www.arisinvest.ro/news_detail.asp?ID=482
